Day of slides and splashes for kids in Tampa burn victim camp

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Children from a weeklong camp in Tampa had a chance to enjoy all the fun Adventure Island had to offer Wednesday during a unique field trip.

Camp Hopetake is a special camp for children with burn injuries.  The camp has operated in Tampa for 23 years, and was created as a safe haven for children ages 3 to 17 living with burn injuries.

Tampa Firefighters and Paramedics and the Tampa General Hospital Foundation sponsor the camp. The staff of the Regional Burn Center at TGH supports the camp, nurses, therapists and firefighters volunteer as counselors for the young survivors.

This Adventure Island field trip is usually one of the most favorite activities during the camp, officials told us.
