TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

This is the first full week of summer vacation for many children across Tampa Bay and Ultimate Medical Academy is offering free health screenings to get the summer started.

UMA's free Pediatric Health and Safety Fair runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on North Florida Avenue.

Children will get medical and dental checkups, as well as talk about food safety, bike safety and promoting healthy eating. There will be a lot of fun activities for the kids as well.

Jameka Ellison, the director of education for UMA said it's a great opportunity for the children and parents to get their summer started off on the right foot.

"All of the programs at our school will be there, and will be doing activities," Ellison said. "So our dental assistant program for example, will be teaching the kids how to brush their teeth properly."

The even takes place the Ultimate Medical Academy at 9309 North Florida Ave. The event is open to the public.

Registration begins at 8:30 am. The phone number is (813) 386-6350.
