St. Pete Pier Auction Preview

Posted: Updated:

A 5 foot tall antique anchor will be one of the first items from the Pier auctioned off in St. Petersburg tomorrow. It's one of 500 lots up for sale.

The Pier closed May 31 and all the stores moved out. Most of the items left are restaurant equipment, display shelves, and lots of tables and chairs. Buyers can even take home a large wooden bar from the Columbia restaurant.

Potential buyer, Charlie Banfi wanted to check out the goods. " I see a hotdog machine over there I'd like to have...that and just see what else they have down here," said Banfi.

There are some personal treasures left, especially from the former Crystal Mirage. The store specialized in handcrafted jewelry and glass artwork. Carol Gray, store owner, is sorry to close after 25 years at the Pier. She hopes some of the buyers will enjoy the pieces left, like a purple glass bowl with an orange beak. " That's a bowl that apparently no one else liked but me..but I just love that little thing. The thing is, I can't take them all home so I figured I would put them in the auction and hopefully someone will love them too," said Gray.

An auction preview begins at 8am Tuesday, with the auction starting at 10am.
