The Tampa Bay Buccaneers resume off-season workouts Tuesday morning at One Buc Place in Tampa.
On Sunday, Tampa Tribune Bucs beat writer, Roy Cummings, joined us in our News Channel 8 studio to talk about the latest topics surrounding the team.
Quarterback Josh Freeman continues to grow under offensive coordinator, Mike Sullivan. This is Freeman's second season in an offensive scheme that was originally foreign to any he had worked under in college as well as the beginning of his NFL career.
Cummings also discussed a difficult question last week for head coach, Greg Schiano, about the team's level of practice last week. The question rose from an incident the previous week when a scuffle took place between rookie defensive tackle, Akeem Spence, and veteran offensive lineman, Jeremy Zuttah.
While the practices seemed physical, Schiano says the Bucs are within the allowable level of physical play, as dictated by the NFL.
And while the beginning of training camp is still a month and a half away, there is a position battle already brewing.
Cummings thinks the important position of number three wide receiver (behind Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams) is currently a three-man battle between Tiquan Underwood, David Douglas and newcomer Kevin Ogletree.
