TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Sunday, an enormous crowd made up of Fans, families and media gathered at Tampa International Airport to welcome home the University of Tampa's baseball team after it claimed its sixth national championship win.

The UT Spartans captured a decisive victory by a score of 8-2 over the second-ranked Minnesota State Mavericks.  What's more, the UT Spartans were able to do it in front of an announced crowd of 2,487, the second highest single-game attendance since the Division II Baseball National Finals moved to Cary, NC in 2009.

Despite a 12 minute delay in the 7th from a power outage that occurred while the Spartans were batting, the Minnesota Mavericks were not able to get a rally going.

UT's Jake Schrader was named Most Outstanding Player of the National Finals. He went 2-for-3 Saturday and batted .444 (8-for-18) with two home runs, seven runs batted in and a .944 slugging percentage in five games at the National Finals.

After winning back-to-back titles, the Spartans' baseball team came home to well-deserved greetings, hugs and "great jobs."
