TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

A motorcyclist weaving in and out of traffic slams into the front of a car, ejecting the rider,  according to Hillsborough County deputies.  At about 7:07 p.m. Friday, authorities say, 25-year-old Geoffrey B. Dawson of Tampa was speeding and driving recklessly on a motorcycle westbound on Bearss Avenue.  When attempting to pass cars approaching an intersection, Dawson struck the front of a Ford Focus traveling east and taking a left onto Lake Emerald Blvd.

Authorities say the impact ejected Dawson about 50 feet from his motorcycle.  Dawson died at St. Joseph's hospital at 9:42 p.m. from his injuries.  Authorities reported that Dawson was a volunteer responder for the Hillsborough County Fire Department.  Occupants of the Ford Focus were transported to St. Joseph's Hospital with minor injuries.
