Mother, son killed on 64 early Sunday morning

SPRING HOPE, N.C. -

A mother and son were killed in a Nash County wreck early Sunday morning, according to the Highway Patrol.

Lisa Marie Kaufman, 33, of Sanford and her son, Kevin McClean, were killed after their car was disabled in the left-hand lane of U.S. 64 near Spring Hope.

A driver towing a trailer traveling west in the same lane struck Kaufman's vehicle. The name of the driver of the second vehicle has not been released.
