Father of missing Florida woman says Ohio case gives "hope for Jennifer"

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

The discovery of three missing women found alive in Ohio set off a rollercoaster of emotions for Drew Kesse.

"If anybody's looking for a miracle, that's a miracle," he said.

But Kesse says the news also gave him "great hope for Jennifer."

The Kesse family has been looking for Jennifer Kesse for seven years since the 24-year-old disappeared. Kesse, a graduate of Gaither High School in Tampa and the University of Central Florida, was living in Orlando at the time. The search for her began after she didn't show up for work on January 24, 2006.

Jennifer's father said he believes his daughter was trafficked, and may not even be in the country. But the Ohio case, in which the women were found close to their homes and close to where they were abducted, is also making him think that the key to finding Jennifer might be close to home.

Kesse said he plans to ask the Orlando Police to take another look at the area around Jennifer Kesse's condo.

"I want them to say, ‘OK, we're going to go back and we're going to search every single piece of a five-mile radius that we can do again and again and again,'" he said. "Because what we find out, too, is it might take six searches, might take 10 searches, might take 12 searches before we find one little thing."

Kesse also noted the importance of the community in solving missing persons cases like the one in Ohio – and like Jennifer's.

"It wasn't necessarily police that found these three girls, it was someone within the community stepping up and I think we saw that in the bombings, too, in Boston. Police can't do it all," he said.
