St. Pete man robbed/abducted, forced to use ATM by couple

Posted: Updated:
ST. PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) -

Detectives from the St. Petersburg Police Department say a couple forced a man to go to an ATM and withdraw his money.  Now, the SPPD is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the female suspect in the ATM security photos.

Authorities say the security photos were taken at around 3:00 a.m. on Monday, April 22 at the TD Bank ATM located at 22nd Avenue North and 4th Street in St. Petersburg.

The female suspect used an ATM card taken from the victim of an armed robbery/abduction which took place earlier that evening.

According to authorities, the 55 year old male victim was approached by a woman and a Hispanic man outside his residence in the 1700 block of 22nd Avenue North at about 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 21st.

The victim reported that he was mildly acquainted with the woman, but had never seen the Hispanic male who accompanied her.

Authorities say the victim did allow the pair into his house, but at some point after midnight the Hispanic man produced a knife and forced the victim into his own SUV.

That is when the victim was forced to ride with the couple who took his ATM card and demanded his PIN number.

After making a withdrawal, authorities say the victim was driven back to his home where the male suspect took the victim's 1999 Ford Expedition and fled the area. The woman left the area in a black sedan with no other description.

The Expedition was later found burning and abandoned in the area of 28th Avenue North and 11 Street a short time later.

Detectives are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the female suspect or anyone who may have other information about the case.  Anyone with information should call Detective Billy Crews at 727-893-7266 or leave a confidential tip at 727-892-5000.
