ST. PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) -

A man charged with arson in a deadly house fire is now also charged with first-degree murder.

Daniel Thomas Papaleo, 60, has been transferred from a hospital to the medical wing of the Pinellas County Jail.  He was being treated for injuries sustained in a fire that started at his home on 13th Street North on Wednesday night.

Firefighters found the body of Robert Scott Greaves, 33, inside the home.  Reports indicate he died of blunt force trauma before the fire even started.  Tonight, St. Petersburg police revealed that Greaves was killed with multiple blows from a hammer.

According to the arrest affidavit, a witness heard Greaves yelling for help inside Papaleo's home.  When the witness approached the house to investigate, he saw Papaleo standing inside the house, breathing heavily.  A few moments later, the witness was flames coming from the house.

Investigators have revealed that Greaves and a daughter of Daniel Thomas Papaleo's had a child together.
