TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Milwaukee has Summerfest. Chicago has Lollapalooza. Now Tampa has the Funshine Music Festival and organizers hope it will become the Bay area's signature music event.  The 3-day music and rides extravaganza starts Friday at 4 p.m. come rain or shine.

"This event's a festival we've been planning for about four years.  We've been talking with the Florida State Fair Authority about how we could best work together to form an event like this.  We wanted something unique and different," explained Live Nation General Manger David Harb.

The State Fairgrounds are filled this weekend with seven stages and more than 60 rides and attractions.

"We wanted something where we could provide really a great value to the families with unlimited free midway rides, unlimited free music, a low admission price, and do it for a great weekend of fun," said Harb.

All concerts and rides are included in the $30 daily admission for adults. Tickets for kids ages 6-15 are $15. Kids 5 years old and under get in free.

Harb says there are more than 30 acts on the line up, including headliners Train, REO Speedwagon, and Gary Allen. Bluegrass bands will play all weekend in "Cracker Country" and a dueling piano bar will also entertain guests inside the gates.

If guests get thirsty, there will be three beer gardens. If they're hungry, there's food on the midway and also a section filled with local food trucks.

You can find the full concert schedule at www.FunshineFest.com.

With a toss of a football, Charlie Crist boarded the bus in Orlando. “On to victory,” Crist announced, as he headed to his seat. It's a campaign tour that might have seemed improbable just a few years ago. But the former governor is on the campaign trail again, trying to win over voters to win back his old job in Tallahassee.
