South Tampa areas under water after morning showers

Posted: Updated:

With a flood warning in effect for Hillsborough County Tuesday morning, about two to three inches of rain fell in some isolated areas, according to our meteorologist Leigh Spann.

Some roadways in South Tampa were under water. Bayshore Boulevard was flooded between Howard and Bay to Bay.

Tampa Police closed Bay to Bay and Bayshore intersection for traffic for over an hour due to flooding. A few streets south of Brevard Avenue were under water as well.

Thunderstorms caused power outages in the area. According to the Tampa Electric power outage map, over 1000 customers were without power at one point in the morning. TECO crews fixed the outages.

Bayshore Boulevard is open for traffic.
