Tampa Bay area runners honor victims of Boston blasts

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Bay area runners played a role in remembering the victims of the Boston bomb attacks.  About 200 people participated in a 5-K run through the streets of Hyde Park in Tampa Monday.  That's about 3.2 miles. The first mile was run in silence to honor those killed in the attacks.

Runners began their trek at the "FIt Niche" store in Hyde Park Village. The manager of the store, Lee Stephens, said his wife has run in the Boston Marathon in the past, but didn't do so this year because she is seven months pregnant.

Part of the event included the sale of t-shirts that marked the day of the blasts and a slogan honoring those killed.  Proceeds from the $20 sale price are going the Boston Strong charity set up to help victim's families.
