MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

The body of a missing 6-year-old boy last seen in the water off Anna Maria Island Saturday has been found.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission crews found the body of Lamontea Taylor near Longboat Key Pass around 10 AM Monday. They brought it to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, and deputies informed the boy's mother.

Police wrapped up their search for Lamontea Taylor around 6:30 PM on Sunday, as the light started to fade.  Taylor was last seen Saturday evening in the water off Bradenton Beach.  After a full day of searching, efforts turned from rescue to recovery.

Lamontea's mother, Laketa, said Sunday what she wanted was closure.

"I just want them to find him.  That way I can get a little closure, that he's not in that water," Taylor said.

Investigators say on Saturday, Lamontea and three other family members, all under the age of 10, slipped away from a picnic area and ended up in an area of water where authorities say no one should swim, because of dangerous currents.
