DADE CITY, FL (WFLA) -

In Pamplona, Spain, the "running of the bulls" pits men against beast, and other runners.  The beasts have large horns and they run fast.  But if a trip to Europe isn't in your future, you still can cross this off your bucket list without the airfare.

The Little Everglades Ranch just north of Dade City is the site of The Great Bull Run. Come February 1st 2014, it will be transformed into little Pamplona. Twelve bulls will chase participants who've paid for the privilege.

Ranch owner Bob Blanchard hopes the bull run attracts a good crowd.

"You got to be excited about things that you never heard of before. And this is a new one for us and I think it's a new one for this community and maybe this country," he said.

Florida is the 4th stop in a series of bull runs.  Blanchard plans to visit one of those other events first to see how it works.  "If there's not too many bodies being carted away, then we'll give it an enthusiastic welcome.," he said.

Just like in Spain, the event will include a "tomato royale", which is a full-fledged food fight. It promises to be a messy, somewhat dangerous time, and that's no bull.
