Sarasota woman shot several times in her apartment by man in ski mask

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

Sarasota Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place Sunday a little after 11 p.m.  Officers were dispatched to 1912 N. Orange Av. after a 911 call was received about shots fired. 

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman with several gunshot wounds  on the floor of her apartment .  Police identified the woman as 22-year-old Tenisha Taylor.  Being conscious, Taylor told police she had been outside her home with friends when a man came out from behind a duplex and began shooting at them.

Taylor told police that when she ran into her apartment, the shooter followed her and shot her several times. 

The shooter was described by Taylor as wearing camouflage and a ski mask.  Police say the shooter fled the scene on foot.   SPD detectives are conducting interviews and gathering evidence at the complex. 

Taylor was taken by Bayflight to Blake Medical Center where she is now in stable condition.  Anyone with information about this shooting should call Detective Riley at (941) 954-7062.
