TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Hillsborough County government reports that it has begun site preparation for the addition of 31 truck and trailer spaces at the east end of the Salty Sol Boat Ramp parking lot, located at 5108 W Gandy Blvd.

Officials say the work will also include re-paving the entire lot and improvements to drainage around the boat wash area. The additional parking spaces and drainage improvements are being made in order to alleviate weekend congestion.  Officials say the project is expected to be complete by the beginning of July.

What To Expect During Construction

• The boat ramp will remain accessible for use throughout the project.

• Traffic patterns into, out of, and through the parking lot may be redirected at times to accommodate various phases of construction.

• Some parking spaces near the construction activity may occasionally be restricted for safety.

Project Timeline

• Site clearing began in late March 2013.
• Re-paving and pavement marking is scheduled to begin after Memorial Day weekend
• The project is expected to be complete around the beginning of July 2013.

Project Funding

The entire project, funded through the County's Capital Improvement Program through boater registration funds, will be completed at a cost of approximately $400,000.
