Etiquette Expert Patricia Rossi author of "Everyday Etiquette" talks about how to have successful interview at a coffee shop or any public place.
#1- Be an Eagle Scout-Get there an hour early and scout out the most quiet corner of the room/cafe. The interviewer will feel special that she is being ushered to a table ~not having to fight for one...
#2-Wait to order your coffee or edible, when the interviewer arrives. That way you can pace together and experience breaking bread/ sipping coffee from start to finish.
#3-Clean Slate: make sure the table isn't full of every beep & whistle electronic going off or papers splayed out everywhere.
#4-Your accoutrements matter~ Make sure your briefcase~Ipad Holder~ Purse is clean and easy to access and exit... No papers, business cards. or receipts falling out. You want to appear as pulled together without clutter, also when it is time to exit the interview you don't want to appear scattered and picking up tiny bits of paper pencils credit cards etc.. Look pulled together.
#5-Check Please~ Whom ever does the inviting does the paying so pause, while you stand there at the register after ordering to let the invitee pay.. If they don't , be on the ready to pay with ease and grace, knowing exactly where your $ or CC is, so you aren't fumbling around looking for money to pay.
#6-Exit Interview~Making a Graceful Exit.
