St. Pete PD identified victims of early morning shoot-out

ST PETERSBURG -

Early morning shoot-out in south St. Petersburg blocks away from Interstate 275 Wednesday leaves four people injured.  Police identified the shooting victims and one of the men who, they think fired the initial shots.

SPPD officers told us this started as a hit and run call they responded to about 2 a.m. at Oueensboro Avenue and 31st Street South.

Officers found a white Nissan there with bullet holes in it but no people, blood or weapons. They discovered drugs in the car.  Later officers concluded this car was not related to the shooting.

While officers were processing this scene, a man waved them over to a Limousine he parked on the side of the road not far away.

Out of eight people in the Limo two men, Malik Wilson, 21 and Kendrick Haney, had gunshot wounds.  Officers found a handgun in the Limousine. Paramedics transported the injured men to Bayfront Medical Center. Doctors listed their condition as stable.

Investigators say the driver of the limo was southbound on 28th street when a black Chrysler 300 pulled up next to them started shooting.  The driver, who has a concealed weapons permit, returned fire.

Terry Kurmay, Owner of Alpha Limousine Owner said his employee did the right thing.   "I mean he had the car to the floor to try and get away from him as it was, he was in fear so, he had to do what he had to do." said Kurmay.

SPPD officers found the Chrysler a few blocks away at 7th Avenue South and 28th Street.  A man in the car, Anzio Fabian Dale, 17, had gunshot wounds to his upper body. Rescue crews took him to a hospital.

Detectives also told us, another person with gunshot wounds checked in All Children's Hospital Wednesday morning.  His name was Eugene Chambers, 22. He was in the Nissan following the Limo.

The Nissan occupants dropped him off at the hospital with wounds Wednesday morning.
