Manatee Co. sting nets individuals seeking sex from a juvenile

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

Manatee County Sheriff,  W. Brad Steube reported that his office concluded a week long undercover sting operation which resulted in the arrest of 35 subjects.  Operation Green Shepherd II started on Monday, March 18 and concluded at Midnight, Monday March 25.    

Authorities say detectives went on line in various undercover capacities and set up meetings with the defendants at an undercover residence in Manatee County.  The defendants went to the residence believing they were meeting up with a juvenile for a sexual encounter. 

Records indicate that the defendants were arrested on charges including Travel to Seduce/Solicit/Entice a Child to Commit Sexual Act, Use of a Computer to Seduce/Solicit/Entice a Child to Commit Sexual Act and Attempted Lewd and Lascivious.  

The following agencies assisted in this operation:  Department of Homeland Security, FDLE, Bradenton, Sanford and St. Petersburg Police Departments and the Sarasota, Polk, Lee, Seminole, Hardee County Sheriff's Office.
