The family of the local fallen soldier was honored at the Hillsborough County Commission meeting Wednesday morning in Tampa.

As a part of the dedication ceremony, the commission board presented Army Staff Sergeant Ricardo Seija's family members with a commemorative plaque.

Staff Sergeant Seija served with 93rd Military Police Battalion of Fort Bliss, Texas.  He died on July 8, 2012, in Afghanistan, from injuries caused by an enemy bomb.

Commissioners said Seija's name was engraved on a monument at the Veterans Memorial Park and Museum on U.S. Highway 301 in Tampa.
