His roommate said he was quiet and an introvert, but he didn't know he was dangerous.

"He always avoids eye contact. If I see him out and about, he would sometimes walk around me instead of walking by me," Arabo Babakhani told UCF's newspaper Knightly News.

UCF Police said James Seevakumaran, 30, pointed a gun a Babakhani Monday morning in their dorm room before attempting to carry out his planned attack on campus.

"The only time he made solid eye contact with you, he was pulling the gun on me," Babakhani told Knightly News. "I crouched behind my chest of drawers in case he fired into the wall."

As Babakhani hid in their bathroom and called police, investigators said Seevakumaran intentionally set off the dorm's fire alarm. They believe he wanted to get all of Tower One's residents out in the open, so they would be easy targets.

"This individual had laid out a time line, and laid out some of what we feel were going to be some of his actions," said UCF Police Chief Richard Beary.

Police said they found several guns, tons of ammunition, and four makeshift bombs in a backpack. They also discovered notes and other writings that indicate Seevakumaran had carefully planned a campus attack. He took his own life, instead, as police moved in on him.

Seevakumaran spent at least part of his life as a Bay area resident, according to his Facebook page. He lists Seminole High School in Pinellas County and UCF under the education section of his page.
