WINTER HAVEN, FL -

A major expansion at Legoland Florida is set to open up this summer. The Polk County theme park is teaming up with the Cartoon Network to "The World of Chima" to life. The new attraction is based on the product line, LEGO Legends of Chima.

The new expansion will feature an interactive water ride called The Quest for Chi, which is a mystical energy source. Families will also be able to try out the action packed Speedorz Arena and meet all the Chima characters. There's even a 4D Land of Chima movie in the works.

"This is the first time a theme park has invested in a major expansion concurrecntly with the rollout of a new brand and product line," Legoland Florida General Manager Adrian Jones said in a press release. "It was an easy decision based on how well Lego Legends of Chima has been received by children and those who are young at heart around the world."

The Legends of Chima series focuses on highly-advanced animals the live in the magical land of Chima. The storylines feature powerful tribes of animal warriors that battle between good and evil. The Lego toys that go along with the series are the highest tested products in the last 12 years.

The announcement reflects some of the success Legoland Florida has had since it opened in October 2011. The park has already had two major expansions. It opened a water park in May 2012, and also expanded its Miniland USA in November. The Winter Haven theme park already consists of 150 acres, and 50 different rides and attractions. The park is geared towards families with kids between the ages of 2-12.
