After almost 12 hours of negotiations, the subject that was barricaded at 8169 Berkeley Manor Blvd in Spring Hill was found deceased inside the residence by SWAT Team members.

During the 12-hour stand-off, the subject's mother chose to remain inside the residence with him.  Once the subject took his own life, the mother was assisted from the residence by SWAT Team members.

The subject is identified as 39-year-old  James Michael Soard.

The scene has now been turned over to Hernando County Sheriff's Office Major Case for further investigation.

Earlier Monday Hernando County Sheriff's Office deputies were at the scene at the intersection of Berkely Manor Boulevard and US Highway 19 Monday where a person barricaded himself inside the Berkeley Manor subdivision.

Negotiators were speaking with the individual, authorities said. Limited evacuations were done in the area to ensure safety, they told us.

The traffic in the area including school buses was redirected for a few hours, deputies told us.
