POLK COUNTY, FL -

On Friday evening, March 15, 2013, PCSO deputies arrested 39-year-old David Boone of Haines City, who had a warrant for his arrest for numerous charges, including Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.

Deputies spotted Boone driving a black Mazda on US Hwy 27 near I-4 in Davenport just before midnight, and initiated a traffic stop.  Boone fled in the car, and deputies (assisted by the PCSO helicopter) followed.  Boone's vehicle eventually became disabled and he fled on foot.  Deputies followed on foot, eventually deploying an agency-issued Taser on Boone, which was effective in stopping him.

Boone was taken to Heart of Florida Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, and then booked into the Polk County Jail, where he is being held on no bond for the following charges:

3 counts Aggravated Fleeing to Elude
2 counts Aggravated Assault on LEO
1 count Possession of Meth
1 count Possession of Paraphernalia
2 counts Resisting Arrest
1 count Grand Theft of Motor Vehicle
1 count Criminal Mischief
1 count Trespassing
1 count VOP

"We are relieved that this very dangerous criminal is off the streets and in our jail.  He clearly has no regard for the law, and will go to great lengths to elude capture.  Our deputies did an outstanding job taking him into custody without serious injury to anyone.  Thank you all for your assistance."  - Sheriff Grady Judd
