Bradenton women hits police cruiser and denies it

POLK COUNTY, FL -

Police say a Bradenton woman was arrested after she crashed her car into a Winter Haven Police cruiser just after midnight Saturday. The officer did not sustain any injuries.

Investigators say at approximately 12:58 a.m., a Winter Haven Police officer was outside of his vehicle investigating a disturbance along Lake Silver Dr.

That's when, police say, 26-year-old Jessica Marghel Baker of Bradenton was traveling north along Lake Silver Dr. when she traveled outside of her lane and crashed into the back of the police cruiser.

Police say Baker continued to travel north until the vehicle would not go any more - approximately a quarter of a mile. When officers approached, Baker indicated that she didn't crash into anything. She stated that she stopped the car because it was not steering correctly and she needed to call someone to get it fixed.

Authorities say Baker was charged with Driving Under the Influence and Failure To Maintain Designated Lane Causing a Crash. She was booked into the Polk County Jail and did not need medical treatment.
