NEW PORT RICHEY, FL -

Pasco County Sheriff deputies arrested a woman for child neglect in New Port Richey Monday after they found a 30-month-old boy left in a car with windows up and engine off.

When PCSO deputies arrived to Pulix parking lot responding to a child in vehicle call, Brittany Nicely, 26 of Holiday was coming back to the car with the child locked in it. Deputy asked to check on the toddler who was screaming for mommy.

The toddler was sweating and hot to touch, the temperature inside the car seemed to be about 100 degrees, according to the deputy's report.

Nicely said she had left the boy in for a few minutes because she didn't want to wake him up, but needed to get groceries and a sandwich, according to the PCSO complaint affidavit. Deputy found a six-pack of a malt beverage in her shopping cart. The video surveillance footage revealed that the toddler was locked in for about 20 minutes.

Nicely is in Pasco County jail on a charge of child neglect. Her bond is set at $5,000. New Port Richey Fire Department crew attended to the boy.
