Two of WFLA's own leaving

TAMPA, FL -

WFLA News Channel 8 has announced that two key members of the Storm Team 8 team are leaving.  Both Megan Hatton and Brooks Garner are relocating to Texas, but for different reasons.

Garner has accepted a position at KHOU-TV in Houston, the local CBS affiliate, where he will be do the Noon and 4 p.m. newscasts on weekdays.  Hatton is joining her husband, a television director at KTRK Television.  Don North, WFLA News Director said, "Megan and Brooks have been important members of Storm Team 8, and we are very sorry that they are leaving.  Brooks is an energetic, enthusiastic weathercaster and we'll miss him.  WFLA was Megan's first on-air weathercasting job, and she has grown enormously in that role.  I know she's going to join her husband in Houston, but if I was a news director there with a need for an accomplished meteorologist, I would hire her."

North says he and Chief Meteorologist Steve Jerve are actively looking to fill both positions before this year's hurricane season starts in June.  Megan has been at WFLA since 2007.   Brooks joined Storm Team 8 in 2010.
