AAA: gas prices on a downward path this week

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, FL -

Gas prices continue to go down nationwide and in Tampa Bay area, according to the American Automobile Association Fuel Price Brief.

The prices are lower than they were the same time a year ago. In 2012 they reached the highest point in April after a steady increase, AAA officials said.

Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman with the Auto Club Group, said the prices will decrease further and stay below last year levels but will go up later.

"Pump prices may inch back up in April, before peaking as initially forecast by the EIA at the start of the year," Brady said.

According to the AAA Fuel Price Brief, this may be related to the recent positive employment data and oil stockpiles increase.
