Country music star Scotty McCreery burst onto the music scene when he won the 10th season of American Idol back in May 2011. The 19-year-old hasn't slowed down since then, and his most recent tour is making a stop at the Florida Strawberry Festival.
"It's a huge festival," McCreery said before his show. "Me and the band are pumped up and it will be a good night."
McCreery said his time on American Idol taught him a lot about the music industry.
"It wasn't easy," he said. "It was fun, but it was the most stressful time of my life."
For now, McCreery is doing what he loves best, performing live and meeting fans.
"This is country music. This is what it's all about. Seeing the people, and seeing the fans," he said.
McCreery tries to get a taste for every local community he visits. He said he planned on going to a local theme park, and he'll be going to a college basketball game during his next tour stop in Kansas.
McCreery mixes up life on the road with college. He's currently enrolled as a student at North Carolina State in Raleigh, North Carolina.
"I've already got a career going, so I'm not looking for a back up plan or anything," he said. "But to get the experience, I think it's important for me to become a well-rounded person."
And he definitely plans to make the most of the Strawberry Festival.
"You better believe I'm having some strawberry shortcake. I'll be chowing down all day," he said with a laugh.
McCreery's performance starts at 7:30 tonight.
