Lotto winner announced in Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, FL -

The Florida Lottery officials in Tallahassee announced a local winner in a $1 scratch-off game Friday.

Daniel Puente, 33, of Lehigh Acres, won Lucky $500 a Week for Life game. He bought his lucky ticket at a Hess Station in Lehigh Acres. He chose to collect the winnings as a lump sum of $418,024.73.

This scratch-off launched in February and there are five more top prizes left. The odds of winning a prize are one in 4.97, the lottery officials told us.

This kind of scratch-off games was first introduced 17 years ago and became increasingly popular, the lottery officials told us. The tickets range from $1 to $20. The most expensive ticket can win $100,000 a year for life.

The Florida Lottery offers more than 60 Scratch-Off games.
