FL state Senator Darren Soto wants to make Daylight Saving Time year-round with his bill called the "Sunshine Protection Act."
"Locals would have an extra hour to enjoy the beaches all year," Soto said. "Our tourists that come down here and our biggest industry in Florida would have an extra hour to enjoy the theme parks."
Moms like Sally Harris aren't look forward to "springing ahead" Sunday.
"I have children in high school and they go to school at 7 in the morning," Harris said. "During Daylight Saving Time it's dark when they go to school."
Soto says his bill allows schools to adjust start times. The senator doesn't expect the bill to pass this session but he wanted to at least start the conversation.
