Several brush fires burning in Charlotte County

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, FL -

NBC2 is reporting several brush fires burning in Charlotte County.  One has claimed 450 acres of land. 

The largest fire is located near Bermont Road in Punta Gorda.  NBC2 reports it is now 95% contained.

According to the Florida Forest Service, that fire started about 3 p.m.  Florida Forest Service and Charlotte County Fire have several units working to contain the fire, which is threatening some homes.

Another major fire is located near 195 Jade Street in Rotonda West.  That fire has burned 70 acres, and NBC2 reports it is 50% contained.

People in that area are being allowed back into their homes after some were evacuated.  At least one road in the area is closed due to the fire. 

NBC2 is reporting that no one has been injured, so far.
