Police: Bartow mom arrested with drugs, gun on school campus

Posted: Updated:
BARTOW, FL (WFLA) -

A mother brought methamphetamine and a gun to a meeting with her child's guidance counselor, say Bartow police.

Investigators say someone at Bartow Middle School spotted a handgun in Lisa Marie Palmes' waistband, and told the school resource officer. Officer Jason Griffith took Palmes to his office, where she showed him a concealed weapons permit. However, the permit doesn't allow Palmes to have a gun on a school campus.

After arresting her for that violation, Griffith search her purse, and found meth, a stun gun, and a pain pill, for which Palmes did not have a prescription.

Palmes is facing a list of drug and weapons charges.
