A Sarasota man accused of sexual activity with a minor is now facing jail time for witness tampering and perjury.
In 2011, detectives say Gary Mays gave a minor child cigarettes, drugs, and money in exchange for sex at a hotel on North Tamiami Trail.
Two women came forward and told investigators that Mays didn't assault the child.
Later, the same two women told police that Mays paid them to give false statements.
Mays was arrested in February of this year. A jury convicted him of paying the two women to lie.
On February 28, a judge sentenced Mays to 20 years on two counts of principle to perjury and one count of witness tampering in an unlawful sex with certain minor case.
