Affidavit has new details from paralegal in shock jock trial

TAMPA, FL -

The paralegal at the center of legal drama that played out during Tampa's radio shock jock trial gives her version of what happened at a local restaurant with attorney Phil Campbell this winter in a newly filed affidavit.

Her encounter with Campbell at Tampa restaurant Malio's caused a stir because Campbell represented one side in the radio trial and Personius worked for lawyers on the other side. Campbell was arrested and charged with DUI that night - and the paralegal ended up with his briefcase in her car. Campbell's colleagues claimed it was a set up.

Melissa Personius, a paralegal at the Adams & Diaco law firm, said in an affidavit filed this week that Campbell "introduced himself and brought drinks for my friend and me" on the night of January 23, 2013.

Asked about the night during court proceedings, Personius had declined to answer some questions about what happened, invoking her fifth amendment right.

In the new affidavit, Personius said Campbell "wanted to take me back to his apartment, for the sole purpose for him to call me a cab so I could go home."

Personius said Campbell "insisted on driving"  and that "no one at Adams & Diaco, including Stephen Diaco, instructed me to get in a vehicle with Phil Campbell or have Phil Campbell drive my car."
