Authorities: 300 homes evacuated in Volusia County due to brush fire

FLAGLER COUNTY -

Volusia County officials ordered evacuations for 300 homes north of Airport Road, homes south of Durrance Lane and homes west of Interstate 95, said County spokesperson Joanne Magley, according to reports from WESH, our partners in Orlando.

Firefighters from Volusia and Flagler counties and from all cities in Volusia and the Florida Forest Service were fighting the large and fast-growing brush fire near the Volusia-Flagler county line on Saturday, WESH reported.

The wildfire had grown to 600 acres and was burning along Durrance Lane, Baja Trail, Tymber Creek Road and Leeway Trail, WESH reporters told us.

Associated Press reported that a few miles of Interstate-95 were shut down Saturday afternoon from US-1 to State Road 40 in Volusia County. Spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes says there are brush fires in both Volusia and Osceola counties, but only Volusia has a road closure.
