Posted: Updated:
CLEARWATER, FL -

Clearwater Police have lifted the school lockdown at Belleair Elementary after a thorough check of the premises. Authorities say the results for a shooting/shooter/gun are all NEGATIVE.  Police have confirmed the call was a hoax. The lockdown has been lifted.  An investigation continues.

Earlier today, multiple units responded to Belleair Elementary School after 911 received ONE call from a cell phone with a person who reported there was a gun and shots were fired at the school.

Police say, there was NO EVIDENCE OF A SHOOTING and no one at the school heard any shots. However, as a precaution, the school was on lockdown and law enforcement conducted a thorough check of the entire school. Buses were delayed.

Authorities say that 911 received only one phone call from a cell phone that does not take incoming phone calls.
