TAMPA, FL -

High winds mixed with heavy rain ripped the shingling off the roofs of buildings, toppling trees into roadways.

Robert Siegel, a SKYWARN Spotter on vacation from Colorado captured a waterspout in Tampa, near Kennedy Blvd around noon. Tampa Emergency Management reported a tree and pole down in the area and is investigating, Siegel said.

In downtown Tampa, near Channelside, light poles bent under the pressure of the storm. Signs were ripped from the buildings, as the wind and rain continued to bare down on the Tampa Bay area. City of Tampa officials say the damage is minimal, there is no cost estimate on the damage yet.

21st and 22nd streets were closed under the Selmon Expressway due to debris falling (or having the potential of falling) on the roadways from the construction area above.

All the roads are now open. The city officials urge motorists to use caution while driving as the clean-up continues.
