Lanes open now at Recker Highway and 21st Street SW in Winter Haven

WINTER HAVEN, FL -

All lanes were shut down at Recker Highway and 21st Street SW in Winter Haven due to a head-on collision Tuesday morning.

Winter Haven Police are investigating the serious crash which involved young children, they told us.

A GMC Cargo Van crossed the center lane on Recker Highway and hit a Chevy Suburban with two small children on board, according to the police report.

The driver of the Chevy was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center by air. Police say at this time the driver is listed in serious condition.

The driver of the GMC was transported to LRMC in serious condition as well.  

The children were in car seats, police say. The family members took them to the LRMC emergency room as a precaution.

All lanes are open for traffic now.
