POLK COUNTY, FL -

The Florida Highway Patrol released the names of the two people killed when the car they were in collided with a moving train around 11:40 p.m. February 24th, on Ewell Road near State Road 37.

According to the investigation, Anthony Martin Young, 24, of Mulberry, was the driver. Eren Randall Askew, 25, of Lakeland, was in the car with Young.

Young didn't stop for the lighted crossing gates, the Florida Highway Patrol said. As a result, the train collided with the SUV. The SUV struck a nearby control box and caught fire.

Young and Askew were killed in the crash. Investigators say the lighted crossing gates were active and working at the time of the crash. The train's horn was also used as an audible warning, investigators said.
