Siesta Key Beach ranked among Top 25 in world

SARASOTA, FL -

If you've ever been to Siesta Key, you can easily see why it's so popular.  The soft white sand and beautiful water has helped it gain national exposure.  A newly released survey ranks Siesta Key as one the top beaches in the world.

If you approached Siesta Key Beach on this Thursday afternoon in February, you may have a hard time actually seeing the beach because of the crowds.  The beach was packed with folks lounging on the sand, playing volleyball or swimming in the water.

The crowds prove how popular this place is, and its reputation is only getting bigger.  The Website TripAdvisor ranked Siesta Key Public Beach the Number 2 beach in America and the Number 16 beach in the world.

Boston native Paul Bunis said, "Its consistently beautiful every year we come here. No place else can have it as good."  Sally Unrath from Michigan said, "Its heaven, heaven on earth."  With its quartz sand and pristine water, Siesta Key Public beach markets itself.

But this isn't the first time seiesta key reached a national ranking, in 2011 Dr. Beach ranked this the number one beach in America.  But the big difference between that ranking and this new one, is these Trip Advisor rankings don't come from a scientist- instead, they come from hundreds of normal people, just like you and me. And this beach buzz is big for business.

The Executive Director of the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce, Kevin Cooper said, "You cant really buy press like this."  Cooper said, "When they're noticing that people that travel just like them, they're spending their hard-earned money to go on vacation and they're telling people, 'Hey you've got to get to Siesta Key,' its really invaluable for us."

Many of these out-of-towners are well aware of the Dr Beach ranking, so time will tell whether this new ranking will bring more visitors to take in the view.  TripAdvisor says the number one beach in America is Ka'anapali beach in Hawaii.  The best beach in the world is rabbit beach in Italy.
