POLK COUNTY, FL -
Polk County Sheriff's Traffic deputies investigate a crash that happened Tuesday in Lakeland and had Garrett Michael Putnam, 21, of Winter Haven in surgery.
Putnam's Chevrolet was rearended by white Suzuki XL-7 going at a fater speed, deputies reported. Putnam underwent surgery for neck injuries at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He is in stable condition now.
Suzuki's driver David Breit, 21, of Lakeland, is cooperating with this accident's investigation. Charges are pending against him.
"We have submitted evidence samples to FDLE to determine whether or not the at-fault driver in this crash was impaired at the time of the crash. When our investigation is complete, he will be charged accordingly," said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.
