Jessi Mitchell - WFLA News Channel 8

Jessi Mitchell

Jessi Mitchell joined the WRBL news team in October 2012.

She was born in Los Angeles, but grew up in Atlanta and made trips to Columbus often to play in golf tournaments during her high school years.

Jessi attended Hampton University on a Presidential Scholarship and majored in broadcast journalism with a minor in Spanish. She was also the captain of the women's golf team.

While in school, she directed weekly student-run newscasts with the Center for Broadcast Excellence and participated in four honors societies. During her time at Hampton, Jessi also had internships with KSHB-TV in Kansas City, Nike, Inc. and HGTV.

After graduation in 2011, she moved back to Los Angeles and worked as a freelance production assistant for MTV Networks, films and a production company. She was also an English tutor for No Child Left Behind.

In her free time, Jessi loves traveling, going to the movies, exploring new music and playing golf. She is also an avid sneaker collector.
