POLK COUNTY, FL -

Polk County Sheriff's Robbery detectives say they have positively identified and arrested 32-year-old William David Mounts of Mulberry as the suspect wanted in two armed robberies that occurred in Polk County this past weekend (Feb. 16-17).

Pasco County Sheriff's Office detectives spotted him around 3:25 p.m. on Sunday, February 17th in Lakeland and placed him under arrest. Authorities say Mounts confessed to committing the Polk County robberies at the BP gas station and the Circle K store.

Authorities report that Mounts was booked into the Polk County Jail where he remains on no bond for the out-of-county warrants.

Detectives say Mounts already had warrants issued for him with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office for a bank robbery in Plant City. In addition, detectives report that Mounts was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service for violating his probation.

Jail records indicate that Mounts has been in the Polk County Jail on four prior occasions:

March 2002 - Armed Robbery, Armed Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault, Escape and Burglary (Okeechobee County charges)

November 2003 - Armed Robbery, Wearing Bulletproof Vest During Felony, Resisting Arrest, Fleeing to Elude, Possession of Marijuana & Paraphernalia, DWLSR, Reckless Driving

July 2011 - Violation of probation.

August 2012 - Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon
