When Clearwater Police Department received complains about an aggresive pitbull on Coachman Road in Clearwater Saturday, they dispatched an officer there to check on it.
When the officer tried to come close to the house, the dog charged at him, the police report said.
The pitbull wouldn't stop even after the officer used his baton to protect himself. He had to fire his gun, according to the police report. The dog died. The officer has no injuries.
