The nightmare for passengers on the Carnival Cruise ship "Triumph" came to close, when it docked at a Mobile, Alabama port.
But the headaches may just be starting for Carnival Cruise Lines.
it can expect some of the 4000 passengers to file lawsuits.
Attorney Spencer Aronfeld said, "we intend to hold Carnival responsible legally for whatever harm they have caused these people."
The south Florida attorney, has already been contacted by eight passengers who plan to file lawsuits against Carnival.
"They are telling us that they are suffering emotional distress, they have abandonment issues, they felt their lives were in jeopardy, and this emotional injury is sometimes far more devastating than a physical injury" added Aronfeld
Tampa travel agent Mike Gruendel arranges cruise travel for people all the time.
He says, people planning on a cruise should know about their rights, under what's called the "contract of carriage".
He went on to say, "it just spells out how little rights you have as far claims against the cruise line, the airlines have a similar contract but it is more heavily regulated."
Gruendel, whose been in the travel industry for more than 30 years says, people should invest the small price for travel insurance to cover the cost of problems on a trip.
"it is a good investment, you know the adage you hate to pay for travel insurance or insurance of any kind, but if you need it, you sure wish you had." added Gruendel.
Some of the Carnival passengers may have had it, but others may be looking for more compensation for their troubles.
Even though the ship left from Texas, all the cases must be filed in the southern district of Florida.
And unlike most legal cases, where a person has up to four years to file a lawsuit, the statue of limitations for suing a cruise ship company, is only one year from the date of the incident.
