KB Home promises to relocate some Willowbrook families during extensive repairs of their condos.

Posted: Updated:

Builder KB Home has begun repairs on some of the troubled condominiums at Bradenton's Willowbrook. And now the builder says it will relocate some of those homeowners during construction.

8 On Your Side uncovered serious construction problems last August and state regulators and officials have been asking questions. But some residents have complained that even though repairs are ongoing now, they still have to live around the mess.

They complain of make-shift walls that block off emergency access; fungus growing in their living rooms, and the sounds of heavy construction all day.

State Senator Bill Galvano toured the condos for himself earlier this month and demanded answers from KB.

So Galvano met with KB representatives last week and says the company promises to relocate homeowners if the construction is disruptive. The builder also promised Galvano it would pay for mold testing for any homeowner who wants it.

I would encourage this because even though you sometimes can't see or feel these things, I want them to be safe," he said.
