WINTER HAVEN, FL -

A Winter Haven family was arrested Friday on charges of possession of various drugs with intent to sell and child neglect, according to the Winter Haven Police Department report.

When the Winter Haven Police officers searched the home of Rosette Petit-Frere, 47, they found cocaine, marijuana, Xanex pills, ammunition and two handguns along with numerous electronics and cash, the officers said. The youngest occupant of the home was an 18-month-old child, according to the police report.

Petit-Frere, her brother and five of her children are in jail.

"It's sad to see the environment that these children were being raised in," said Chief Gary Hester. "As parents and adults, it's our responsibility to assure the safety of our little ones and raise them to be productive citizens."

He also added, that the men and women of the Winter Haven Police Department are committed to shutting these types of "so-called" homes down.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office and the Auburndale Police Department assisted with the search.
