North Port Police look for prowler in N Chamberlain Blvd area

NORTH PORT, FL (WFLA) -

The North Port Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) needs assistance with an incident that involves a prowler in the North Chamberlain Boulevard area.

Donna Carey says the a man peered into her teen-age daughter's window in North Port, a month ago, and again, a few weeks ago. Her daughter told her she heard "taps" on her window. "So I got up, and went outside like I usually do came around the corner and there was a guy standing there" she said. "Carey got a good, solid look at the guy and helped make a sketch of what he looks like. She thinks he's about 19 to 24 years old and lives nearby.

"If he has seen me outside, I've walked around with baseball bats and knives and I secure my house. I always expect him to be walking past." she said

North Port Police aren't ready to connect the peeper with last week's sexual assault of a 12 year old girl, but they worry, peeping may be just a start. "That's always a concern. Our main concern is for the safety of our citizens" said Captain Tony Sirianni.

North Port Police are watching out for the peeper, so he'll stop watching young women.

If you have any information on this case please contact Detective Brian Chippendale at 941-429-7330 or via email at bchippendale@northportpd.com.
